Shipping Policy.
How we ship across Canada. Real delivery times by province. What’s in the box and what’s not. Free shipping at $199, $25 flat under that. Tracked Canada Post on every order. Signed for at the door for age verification.
The short version.
Most shipping questions answered in 8 bullets. Detailed policy below.
How long it actually takes.
These are real delivery estimates from real Canada Post tracking data on hundreds of weekly shipments. Times are business days from the day your order ships, not from the day you place it.
For more detailed regional breakdowns, see your province page: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba.
The four steps.
From the moment you click “Place Order” to the moment your parcel arrives.
Order placed and confirmation email
You’ll receive an automatic order confirmation with your order number, items, and the Interac e-Transfer instructions for payment. Orders are not processed until payment is confirmed received.
Payment via Interac e-Transfer
Send your e-Transfer through your bank’s app or website to the address provided. Most Canadian banks process Interac transfers in under 30 minutes. Orders received before 12 PM EST Monday-Friday typically ship the same business day. After-hours and weekend orders ship the next business day.
Order ships and tracking emailed
Once your order is packed and picked up by Canada Post, you’ll receive a second email with your tracking number. You can follow the parcel through the entire delivery journey via the Canada Post website or app.
Delivery with signature for age verification
Canada Post requires a signature at delivery for tobacco shipments. The carrier will check ID at the door to confirm legal smoking age. If no one is home, Canada Post leaves a delivery notice card and holds the parcel at the nearest pickup location for 15 days.
What the box looks like.
Every order ships in a plain, unmarked corrugated brown box (or padded mailer for smaller orders). Specifically, the outside of your parcel has:
- No logos. No NativeNicotine.co branding, no brand names, no graphics that indicate tobacco contents.
- No product references. The shipping label does not name the contents. It looks like any standard Canada Post commercial parcel.
- A neutral return address. The return address uses a generic name that does not identify the business or product category.
- Standard Canada Post tracking and signature labels. These are the same labels Canada Post applies to any age-restricted commercial shipment (alcohol, certain pharmaceuticals).
Inside the box, your products are individually packaged in their original manufacturer packaging (sealed pack, sealed carton, sealed pouch tin), protected with packing material to prevent damage in transit.
Why plain packaging matters: condo concierges, mailroom staff, shared housing, small-town carriers who recognize neighbours. Nothing on the outside indicates what’s inside. Your privacy is protected on every order.
How we verify age.
At checkout
Every order requires age confirmation at checkout. You must be of legal smoking age in your province to place an order:
- 19+ in Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut
- 18+ in Quebec and Alberta
At delivery
Canada Post requires a signature at delivery on every tobacco shipment. The carrier will check government-issued ID at the door to confirm the recipient is of legal smoking age. The signature requirement cannot be waived. If no one of legal age is available to sign, the parcel is held at the nearest Canada Post outlet for 15 days for pickup with ID.
Underage attempts: Orders placed by anyone below the legal smoking age in their province will be cancelled and refunded. Canada Post carriers are trained to refuse delivery to anyone unable to provide valid ID confirming legal smoking age. The age verification system is designed not to fail.
For the full age verification policy, see Age Verification Policy.
What ships where.
British Columbia: Nicotine pouch restriction
BC restricts the sale of nicotine pouches (Zyn, On!, Velo, etc.) to licensed pharmacies as of 2024. We do not ship nicotine pouches to BC addresses to comply with this provincial law. This restriction does not apply to cigarettes or vapes, which ship freely to every BC postal code.
If you place an order containing nicotine pouches with a BC shipping address, the pouches will be removed from your order and you will receive a full refund for those specific items, with the remainder of your order shipping normally.
All other provinces and territories
Cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and nicotine vapes ship freely to every other province and territory in Canada. There are no other provincial-level product restrictions on our catalogue.
Remote and First Nations communities
We ship to every Canadian postal code that Canada Post serves, including remote northern communities, First Nations reserves, and fly-in destinations. Delivery times to remote locations are longer (7+ business days) due to ferry schedules, weather, and infrastructure constraints. Tracking applies the entire way.
If something goes wrong.
These are the situations that occasionally come up and how we handle them.
Tracking shows delivered but parcel isn’t there
This happens occasionally with Canada Post. Before contacting us, please:
- Check all entry points of your property (front door, back door, garage, side gate)
- Check with neighbours who might have accidentally received it
- Check with building concierge or mailroom if you live in a multi-unit building
- Wait 24 hours. Canada Post tracking sometimes updates “delivered” status before the parcel physically arrives
If 24 hours pass and the parcel hasn’t appeared, contact support with your order number. We will work with Canada Post to investigate. If Canada Post confirms the parcel was lost, we reship at no cost.
Wrong address entered at checkout
We ship to the exact address you provide at checkout. If you realize you’ve entered an incorrect address, contact us immediately at support. If your order has not yet shipped, we can update the address. If it has already shipped, we cannot redirect a Canada Post parcel mid-transit.
If a parcel is returned to us due to an incorrect address, you will be responsible for the cost of re-shipping. The original shipping fee is not refunded.
Recipient not home at delivery
If no one of legal age is available to sign for the parcel, Canada Post leaves a delivery notice card with instructions to pick up at the nearest Canada Post outlet (typically a pharmacy or convenience store). The parcel is held there for 15 days. Bring valid government-issued ID to pick up. If the parcel is not collected within 15 days, it is returned to us, and re-shipping costs apply.
Damaged in transit
Canada Post handles parcels at scale and occasional damage happens. If your parcel arrives crushed, opened, or with damaged contents, take photos of the parcel as received (before unpacking further) and contact support within 7 days of delivery. We will replace damaged products at no cost.
Wrong product or missing items
Every order is checked before shipment, but errors occasionally happen. If you receive the wrong product or notice items are missing, contact support within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos. We will correct the order at no cost.
For the full refund policy, see Refund Policy.
FAQ.
When does my order actually ship?
Orders received with confirmed Interac e-Transfer payment before 12 PM EST Monday through Friday typically ship the same business day. Orders received after 12 PM EST or on weekends and holidays ship the next business day. The 24-hour shipping window starts from when payment is confirmed, not from when you place the order.
How do I get free shipping?
Free shipping applies to orders of $199 CAD or more (cart subtotal before any taxes). Most regulars order 5 cartons at $45/carton ($225 total) to clear the threshold and get the per-carton volume discount. A 4-carton order at $49/carton comes to $196, three dollars short of free shipping, so 5 cartons is the popular tier.
How much is shipping if I’m under $199?
$25 flat rate for any order under $199. The flat rate applies whether you order one pack or four cartons. There are no weight-based, distance-based, or item-based shipping surcharges.
Can I pick a faster shipping option?
Not at this time. We use Canada Post tracked ground shipping, which is the fastest reliable option for tobacco shipments to most Canadian addresses. Express services have additional restrictions for age-verified deliveries that make them impractical for our shipments.
Will the box say “tobacco” or “cigarettes” anywhere?
No. The outside of every parcel is plain, unmarked, and has a neutral return address. Nothing on the exterior identifies the contents as tobacco-related. The Canada Post shipping label has standard age-restricted-delivery markings (signature required), but does not name the product.
Do you ship to PO boxes?
Yes, but the signature requirement still applies. You’ll need to pick up at the post office holding your PO box and sign for the parcel with valid ID. We do not ship to commercial mail receiving agencies (UPS Store, Mail Boxes Etc.) due to age verification requirements.
Can I have it shipped to my workplace?
Yes, but you’ll need to be available to sign for it at the workplace, and you’ll need valid ID confirming legal smoking age. Some workplaces (offices, condo buildings with concierge) handle parcel delivery routinely. Other workplaces (retail, food service) may not. If in doubt, ship to home.
Why does my parcel take longer than my friend’s in the same city?
Canada Post delivery times vary by route, weather, holiday volumes, and individual sortation paths. Two parcels shipped on the same day to the same city can arrive 1-2 days apart. The estimates on this page are typical, not guaranteed. Track your specific parcel via Canada Post for real-time updates.
What if I’m in a remote First Nations or fly-in community?
We ship to every Canada Post-served postal code, including remote and fly-in communities. Delivery times are longer (7+ business days) due to weather and infrastructure. Most remote-area buyers order 5 to 10 cartons at a time to make the longer shipping cycle worthwhile. Tracking applies the entire way.
Can I cancel or change an order after placing it?
If your order has not yet been processed (typically within 1 hour of placement, before payment confirmation), contact support immediately. Once payment is confirmed and the order is processed, changes to product selection or shipping address are not possible. Orders that have shipped cannot be cancelled. See Refund Policy for details on returns.
Do you ship outside Canada?
No. We ship only within Canada. International shipping of tobacco products involves cross-border regulatory complexity that our operation is not set up to handle. We do not ship to the United States, even to American addresses with Canadian forwarding services.
